Three ways you can lower fees with a financial adviser. Number one, bundle things together. Just like with an insurance relationship, if you can put all of your Investments accounts together with the same advisor, you can typically give the adviser the ability to offer you a lower overall fee.
Number two, does the adviser have access to institutional mutual funds, the funds that typically have lower fees than the comparable retail mutual funds.
And the third thing is, does the adviser strategically use ETFs or exchange traded funds? ETFs aren’t right for every situation, but when they’re appropriate, they can have much lower fees than other mutual funds.
